Eye of the Tiger Management (EOTTM) held the official weigh-in for the boxing gala presented by La Reine des Bières, Mise-O-Jeu and Videotron which will take place tomorrow, July 23, on the airwaves of Punching Grace and Indigo as of 7 p.m. This event will take place live from the Holiday Inn in Cuernavaca in Mexico, thanks to the Commando formula of broadcasting, featuring the return of one of the most feared heavyweights on the planet today, Arslanbek “The Lion” Makhmudov (11-0-0, 11 K.-O.). The tough Russian hitter will finally return to action as he takes on tough Czech boxer Pavel Sour (13-4-0, 8 KOs), in a 10-round fight where the NABF and NABA titles will be at stake.
It was with fire in his eyes that Arslanbek Makhmudov was the first to step onto the scales to register a weight of 262 pounds. Moments later, it was his opponent, Pavel Sour’s turn. However, the latter also presented himself without flinching with an equally determined look before finally posting a weight of 236 lbs. Tomorrow night, two men possessing a combined weight of nearly 500 pounds will wage a ruthless war with the firm intention of ending hostilities before the last bell. Makhmudov wants to continue his ascent to the highest peaks of the premier boxing category while Sour only wants one thing, to take the place of the Russian giant.
For his part, the powerful welterweight, Angel Perez (1-0-0, 1 KO.), stepped on the scales with a relaxed attitude and an extremely cut physique to thus display a weight of 145 lbs. His Mexican rival, Carlos Leal Martinez (0-1-0), in turn, swung the scales at 149 lbs on the eve of their duel scheduled for 4 rounds. Angel Perez will be in his second professional fight in less than two months and is hoping to be just as expeditious as his first outing which ended in a knockout victory less than three minutes after the fight had started. His twin brother Antonio Perez (pro debut) recorded a weight of 145 lbs while his opponent, Jorge Luis Hernandez (0-1-0) also made weight, but at 149 lbs. Much like his brother and training partner, Antonio hopes to show off his 4-round bout using all the skills he has learned during his successful Olympic boxing career. As for the first fight of the evening, the latest addition to coach Marc Ramsay’s team, Mehmet Nadir Unal (professional debut) will make his entry into the major leagues as he will be pitted against a more experienced boxer in Jorge Luis Hernandez (2-1-2, 1 KO) in the light heavyweight division, in a duel scheduled for 4 rounds. The ex-Olympian posted a regulatory weight of 179 lbs while Hernandez also hit the limit weighing in at 176 lbs. Tomorrow evening, Nadir Unal aims to demonstrate to all, the reasons why he’s been proclaimed the “successor of Artur Beterbiev”.
Do not miss a second of all the exciting fights on this boxing card where the tigers will push their conquest to the highest peaks of their division, tomorrow evening live on Punching Grace or on Indigo from 7pm.
